Crafting the Future: How the Museum of Royal Worcester found a new purpose through partnership

The Museum of Royal Worcester treasures more than just porcelain they care for the world’s largest collection of Worcester porcelain, alongside a unique factory archive, pattern books and records spanning 1751-2008.

Working closely with the CEO, the Visit Worcestershire consultancy programme provided strategic guidance and coaching to support the museum through a period of transformation helping it build resilience, connect with wider audiences, and maintain its place as a vibrant cultural destination for generations to come.

Shaping strategy and strengthening leadership

The Visit Worcestershire consultancy provided the Museum with regular coaching and consultancy to the CEO, offering valuable support to someone new in post. Through structured sessions and strategic discussions, Jane helped the CEO review the organisation in depth assessing its current operations, identifying what was working well, and setting a clear direction for the future. There is now a strategy to secure both the creative and financial sustainability of the museum. As part of this process, Jane supported the wider team in navigating internal and external pressures, while gaining engagement and confidence from the Board of Trustees.

A renewed sense of purpose and possibility

Kate Travers, Director of The Museum of Royal Worcester said, “Jane has given me time to reflect, supporting me to manage change. She has shared tools to help me acknowledge areas of difficulty and discuss these openly with the team and Trustees. She has helped me review options and solutions and focus on the most appropriate way forward to ensure a successful future for the organisation.”

The Museum now has a much clearer vision for its future and a well-defined focus on priority business areas. Following Jane’s support, the organisation has undergone a period of cultural transformation becoming more collaborative, open and understanding. There is now a shared sense of purpose across the team and a renewed confidence in delivering the museum’s mission for years to come.
