Tourism businesses from across the county will come together on Friday 20 March at the Three Counties Showground to celebrate the people and places that make Worcestershire such a special destination. The prestigious awards will recognise outstanding achievements across the local tourism sector, shining a spotlight on excellence, innovation and dedication.
This year’s event will also support an important local cause, with Acorns Children’s Hospice announced as the official charity partner. Acorns provides specialist palliative nursing care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands.
Over the past year alone, Acorns has supported 781 children and 1,045 families, offering a range of services including short breaks, emotional and therapeutic support, and end-of-life and bereavement care. Guests attending the awards evening will have the opportunity to support this vital work through a prize raffle held on the night.
Mel Hall, Area Fundraiser for Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: “It is a privilege to be supported by the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards so a huge thank you for selecting us as this year’s charity partner.
“The support we receive from the local community is vital. Not only do we provide lifeline care for children with life-limiting conditions, but we are dedicated to creating special memories – something that also resonates within the local tourism sector.
“We wish all the shortlisted businesses the very best of luck and look forward to a wonderful evening of celebration. Every contribution made will directly support our work, and for that we are truly grateful.”
Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Business and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “The Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards are always a real highlight of the year, celebrating the outstanding businesses and people who help make our county such a fantastic place to visit.
“I’m delighted that Acorns Children’s Hospice has been chosen as the official charity partner. It is a truly deserving organisation, providing vital care and support for local children and their families across Worcestershire. I’m very much looking forward to an evening of celebration, recognising the hard work and dedication that continue to drive our tourism sector forward.”
