According to WineGB, visits to UK vineyards and wineries have increased by 55% in the past two years (Tourism Report 2024), reflecting a growing appetite for immersive wine experiences.
That shift is being felt in Worcestershire. Tucked between rolling countryside and the Malvern Hills, a small but growing group of vineyards is shaping a local wine scene built around landscape and craft. It may not have the scale of Europe’s famous wine regions, but what it offers is something more personal and closer to home.
Astley Vineyard, located in the Severn Valley near Stourport-on-Severn is one of the oldest vineyards in the UK, it has become a key destination for wine enthusiasts — offering guided tours and tastings that showcase the craft and story behind English wine production. Strengthening its visitor offer, the vineyard introduces two new shepherds huts in the late summer of 2024, offering guests the chance to stay overnight and wake up to peaceful views across the vines.
Wagtail Retreat, near Hallow, is another Worcestershire vineyard expanding its visitor experience with overnight stays. Guests can unwind in one of three luxury shepherds huts, each offering sweeping views over the vineyard and across to the Malvern Hills. Designed with a blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, each hut features a king-size bed, log burner, and an outdoor bath for a unique countryside escape. The on-site vineyard produces four distinct wines, crafted from Solaris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Précoce, and Siegerrebe grapes - grown and nurtured on Worcestershire soil.
Deer Park Wines, located at the foot of Bredon Hill, is a standout local producer with a focus on quality and sustainability. Over 5,000 vines are flourishing in Cotswold limestone-rich soils - a key factor in securing awards from both Decanter and GB Wine.
The vineyard will host the Bredon Wine Fayre on Saturday 11 July — a celebration of English wine featuring over 120 premium bottles to taste and purchase. Visitors can enjoy guided vineyard tours throughout the day, alongside a selection of local food vendors.
Around the Malvern Hills, smaller vineyards add a more intimate feel to the county’s wine scene. Two Beacons Vineyard, with its tasting room in Great Malvern, offers a relaxed way to try locally produced wines right in the heart of the town. It is an easy addition to a day spent walking the hills or exploring independent shops and cafés.
Putt & Pour combines the best of vineyard life with a playful twist: guests will enjoy a 9-hole mini golf experience, paired with 9 different vintages from our award-winning wine collection. As you make your way around the course, you'll sample nine carefully selected wines, discovering the stories, flavours, and craftsmanship behind every pour.
Marlbank Vineyard, just east of the Malvern Hills, is a small, hands-on operation focused entirely on Pinot Noir. Visitors can join guided tours through the vines and taste its sparkling Blanc de Noirs, offering a close-up look at how the vineyard is shaped by its setting.
Nearby, Abberley Hills Vineyard offers a more traditional, family-run experience. Set on south-facing slopes near Great Witley, visits are by appointment and kept small, with guided walks through the vineyard followed by tastings in the wine barn. It is a chance to slow down, learn about the process and sample a range of still and sparkling wines.
English Wine Week is set to take place from Saturday 20 June – Sunday 28 June 2026 creating the perfect opportunity to sample local wines and celebrate local produce.
