Join us for this fun and informal workshop to create a beautiful foraging basket, perfect for carrying treasures from your foraging trips, or to store your favourite snacks!
About this event
Dates, address & more
Using popular basketry techniques you will create the base for your basket, learn how to stake up the sides and use different colours and styles to weave the side, finishing with a simple border and handle.
Your experienced tutor will guide you all the way. Your finished basket (pictured) will be approximately 27cm wide base with a 17 cm opening, the height of the basket round 16cm excluding the handle and 30cm including the handle.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and will run from 10.00am until 5.00pm, with a pause for a ploughman-style lunch. Your lunch and all the materials to make your foraging basket will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day. Due to the nature of the workshop, we recommend wearing suitable clothing and closed toe footwear.
Whether you are keen to learn the traditional craft of basket making or you simply fancy an enjoyable day out – this workshop is for you!
