The Three Choirs Festival returns to Worcester between 27 July and 3 August for eight days of music and entertainment. Concerts will take place throughout the week, alongside a host of free activities in and around Worcester Cathedral.
There is so much on offer at the festival without even having to book a ticket – here are just some of the things you could enjoy for free during the week:
Open Rehearsals
Want to get a taste of the incredible festival music for free? Then dip into the cathedral rehearsals. You can come in at any point, no ticket needed, and stay for as long or short a time as you would like. Full details of rehearsal times can be found online at 3choirs.org/rehearsals
Children Go Free at Selected Family Events
Many of the family events are free for children – for full details, see 3choirs.org/whats-on/filter/family. In addition, book for three or more family events and get 20% off your tickets. There are also half-price tickets available for families on Universal Credit.
Festival Village and Community Bandstand
The Festival Village is the perfect place to relax, enjoy a drink and meet with friends. Open all week outside Worcester Cathedral, there will be a cafe and bar serving refreshments. If you would simply like to come for tea and cake or a beer and soak up the festival atmosphere, you are more than welcome to do so.
Located in the Festival Village, the community bandstand will play host to local bands and performers during festival week. The Black Country Big Band will open the stage on Saturday 27 July and performances will take place throughout the week, including Got2Sing Worcester, The Elgar School of Music Folk Ensemble, Simbora – Stroud Samba, and Worcester Male Voice Choir.
Worcester Sounds Trail
The festival has teamed up with Worcester BID to develop the Worcester Sounds Trail, a musical trail with musical highlights that you can follow through Worcester city centre between July 27 and August 3. When you find a board, scan the code to listen to some great music that will transport you straight to the festival. You can find some interesting extra information by each trail shield, or at worcesterbid.com
The Guilds of Designer Makers and Artists
Members of the Herefordshire, Cotswold and Worcestershire Guilds will be exhibiting their latest collection of work in the marquee in the Festival Village throughout the week. Open daily 9 am – 7.30 pm and free to enter.
