About this event

Dates, address & more

This September, Candela Strings bring their most spectacular show yet to Stourbridge Town Hall. Movie Night by Candlelight is an immersive, flame-lit journey through the greatest film scores ever written - Zimmer's thunderous drama, Williams' iconic sweeping themes, and the heartbreaking beauty of scores that have defined generations of cinema. When musicians of this calibre turn their attention to the silver screen, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. Book now, arrive early, and prepare to be swept away.

An exciting, atmospheric candlelit evening of orchestral classics, featuring some of the greatest movie scores ever written - from Harry Potter, Batman and The Mandalorian to Cinema Paradiso, Dune and The Lion King, to name just a few. Prepare to be swept away by the sounds and magic of the silver screen.

Who Are Candela Strings? Candela Strings are not your average string quartet. These four conservatoire-trained musicians have graced some of the world's most prestigious stages - from the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Royal Albert Hall to Wigmore Hall and the Shanghai Symphony Hall - yet they remain proudly rooted in the communities that shaped them. Cellist Harry Broom freelances with the BBC Philharmonic and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Violinist Anna Tulchinskaya tours internationally with the Manchester Collective and United Strings of Europe. Violist Liam Brolly has served as Guest Principal with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. And violinist Emma Donald - founding member of the Fyrish String Quartet and an accomplished composer in her own right - brings a rare creative fire that few performers can match.

Together, they are formidable. A Sound Without Limits These are musicians who have performed with Dutch National Opera, collaborated with Pulitzer Prize-winning composers and been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 - yet they bring that same fierce conviction to every genre they touch. Emma's roots in traditional Scottish music, Anna's international festival pedigree, Liam's chamber collaborations with members of the Tokyo and Edinburgh Quartets, and Harry's vast orchestral breadth all converge in an ensemble that refuses to be boxed in.

Whatever you thought a string quartet could be, Candela Strings are about to change your mind.
