About this business

The Stourport Canal Basins are made up of five historic basins, home to nearly 100 narrow boats and yachts and one reopened basin, plus 6 canal locks and a dry lock, all located on the bank of the River Severn in the picturesque Severn Valley.
Stourport owes its existence to the canal network. The town grew up around the vital transhipment port where goods were transferred from the River Severn to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal for their upward journey to the Midlands' industrial cities during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Today, Stourport is a favourite destination, with the canal, the basins and River Severn at its heart. Wander by the picturesque riverfront, admiring the town's Georgian architecture. Enjoy a picnic in one of the waterside meadows, or why not hop aboard one of the pleasure boat cruises on the canal or river. An ongoing programme of activities throughout the year ensures there's something to do for all members of the family and continues to bring a vibrant atmosphere to this historic leisure destination for visitors. See www.stourporttown.co.uk/whatson website for our latest calendar of events.
The Stourport Canal Basins still remain largely intact from the golden age of the canals in the late 1700's - early 1800's.
