Manor Holding is a romantically secluded, Grade II Listed, half timbered, cottage in the middle of the ancient Wyre Forest.It has been sympathetically restored over many years, to meet current standards for comfort and convenience, reusing traditional materials and techniques where possible.The cottage is set in 2ha (5 acres) of wild flower grassland with ancient cherry, apple and pear orchards, rich in wildlife including occasional Fallow Deer.The tranquil Wyre Forest is home to many rare and endangered plants and animals; and one of England's largest Sites of Special Scientific Interest, which includes the orchards beside the cottage.The forest is laced with cycling and horse riding trails as well as a comprehensive network of footpaths, connecting right to the door of the cottage.This ancient oak forest stands astride the River Severn, England's longest river and the beautiful countryside around it is rich in historic settlements and other places of interest.Manor Holding CottageThe Cottage is a Grade II Listed, half timbered, Jacobean cottage farmhouse, dating from 1680.The south facing cottage is naturally warm and full of sunlight.It has a separate, enclosed and sheltered front garden with two lawns, embracing an intimate, suntrap patio, as well as shady seating arbours for hotter days.There are two bedrooms on the first floor, and 3 living rooms downstairs.Manor Holding ByreManor Holding Byre is an elegantly proportioned small barn, built of hand made brick of an almost glowing, naturally mottled warm orange colour, well over a century ago on the foundations of a previous stone building. It forms an integral part of this Grade II Listed group of farm buildings and is fully protected under that designation.The Byre is a simpathetically converted, Grade II Listed, small mixed stone and brick barn dating from the Victorian period or earlier, whose historic charm is enhanced by traditional brick detailing to the walls, external stone stair, exposed King Post style oak roof beams, and brick paved floor. Seemingly randomly positioned windows punctuate the west gable, flooding the interior with light each evening.The Byre is naturally warm and full of sunlight, as all the numerous windows have high performance double glazing, and walls and roof are well insulated. White painted walls, and invisible under-floor central heating throughout reinforce the light and warmth.It is south facing onto the parking yard, looking out into an ancient orchard, and over a small rural valley to the rear.The Byre has one twin bedroom accessed via the external loft stairs and a full height living room downstairs, with kitchenette and wetroom shower/toilet off. It has been restored using appropriate materials including matched handmade brick, natural stone, green oak and old clay tiles, in keeping with its original character. New casement windows complement the style of the original adjacent cottage windows.
