About this business
Opening times, reviews & more
Purchased in 2001 and HQ of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Lower Smite Farm is managed to demonstrate how sensitive farming techniques can improve the quality of the agricultural landscape for wildlife. The nature trail takes in a range of habitats around the farm including a replanted traditional orchard, a wetland, several ponds, a wildlife garden, arable fields and bird food crops. In spring, visitors should listen for displaying skylarks in the fields and for reed warbler around the ponds in summer. Large flocks of finches are plentiful throughout winter. The ponds are great for dragonflies and the wide field margins encourage a wide range of insects with butterflies frequently observed. Bees and butterflies can also be spotted in good numbers in the garden in front of the main farmhouse.Lower Smite Farm is also home to an environmental education centre where we welcome several thousand schoolchildren each year as well as families taking part in our school holiday activities and monthly Wildlife Watch club.Situated just 1 miles from Junction 6 of the M5, Lower Smite Farm is also perfect for meetings and conferences with four rooms that can accomodate up to 60 people. All profits from these bookings help our conservation work across Worcestershire.
