Hartlebury Castle has a fascinating history, with many intriguing stories to tell. First given to Bishop Aelhun in 855AD, the Castle continued to be home to the Bishops of Worcester right up until 2007. Today, the Castle is made up of two sections; the Bishop's House and Worcestershire County Museum.
The venue was named a Visit England Hidden Gem in 2019, a national award for smaller attractions that offer a excellent visitor experience and memorable visits.
Home to the Bishops of Worcester for over 1000 years, you can now discover more of Hartlebury Castle's unique story. Explore rooms in the Castle, promenade along the restored Long Gallery and marvel at talking portraits! Follow in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth I, King George III and Queen Charlotte as you explore the historic grounds, and enjoy hands-on activities and unearth stories about the Castle and those that lived there.

Learn more about this fascinating county; explore the past through room sets and real historical objects and discover just what life was like for our ancestors. From costume to gypsy caravans and archaeology to toys, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.
Hayley's Café
Hayley's Café serves a delicious selection of hot drinks, cakes and lunches. Pop in for a cappuccino and a cake, or relax over a leisurely afternoon tea. Sunday lunch is also available, pre-booking is essential.

Good to Know...
Last entry is 4pm. Dogs are allowed in the grounds of the Castle.
On some days, due to private functions, the Bishops Palace, State Rooms and Grounds will be closed to visitors. On these days you can still visit the County Museum and learn all about the history of the County of Worcestershire. Dates of partial closures are on our website
Please note we are closed between 24 December and 31 January.
