Arbour House is a fine Grade II listed home, with flagstone floors and oak beams. It stands behind a small village green, in the riverside village of Wyre Piddle.Originally built as a labourer's cottage in the 1550's it became the prosperous "George Inn" serving the boat hauliers on the banks of the River Avon. In 1651, it is said that Oliver Cromwell's soldiers took ale here and afterwards slept in the fields around the village.By 1890 the George Inn became a private residence known as Arbour House, a charming home which offers peaceful comfort to the traveller and holiday maker.Arbour House overlooks open meadows, with fine views towards Bredon Hill, an outcrop of the Cotswolds. The Anchor Inn, a real old English pub, with gardens leading down to the River Avon is situated opposite.Wyre Piddle is in the Vale of Evesham, famous for its blossom trail in Springtime and for the wealth of fresh fruit and vegetables, on sale at local markets and wayside stalls throughout the year. The Vale is well known for its delicious asparagus, which is abundant in May and served in the many excellent hostelries nearby.AmenitiesThe dining room has an original flagstone floor and inglenook fireplace, individual tables ensure that our guests can enjoy their privacy.The cosy sitting room, has a colour television and a good selection of books and games.All of the centrally heated bedrooms have en-suite or private facilities. There are colour televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarms and hairdryers in each room.Payment please by cash or cheque - sorry we have no facility for accepting cards.Children are welcome by arrangement.Sorry, we do not take pets.Off-road car parking is available in the rear courtyard.We are a non-smoking establishment.We provide a full English breakfast using the very best of local produce. Specialist diets can be catered for. All food is home cooked and carefully prepared for your appreciation.We are open all year round.
