1. Worcester Woods Country Park
Worcester Woods is a well-known spot for locals but is also perfectly situated for friends and family wanting to meet up, with its handy location near Junction 7 of the M5.
With a newly refurbished play area, picnic benches, and a hundred acres of ancient oak woodland it’s a perfect spot to walk the dogs, meet friends or let the kids enjoy nature. With large open fields, you can kick a ball and play games – they even have a BBQ you can hire to cater for your event.
There is a café on site – The Orchard Café – with warm food, sandwiches and an array of yummy cakes, ice-creams and hot drinks.
The woodland walk has a firm surface and even after rain is accessible for most wheelchair users and pushchairs.

2. Sanders Park
Sanders Park in Bromsgrove, offers a delightful open lawned spaces where you can sit and enjoy a picnic and the children can play. There is a superb bowling green, tennis courts, putting green, play area and skate park and even a sensory garden. With a seasonal café on site and good accessibility for wheelchair users.

3. The Clent Hills
The Clent Hills are managed by the National Trust but are free to visit. With just over 1 million visitors a year – it is Worcestershire’s biggest free attraction and we can see why with the beautiful views over Worcestershire and the River Stour. There is a café and toilets on site and you are free to picnic anywhere – as long as you take your rubbish home with you.

4. Arrow Valley – Redditch
Described as a ‘hidden gem’, Arrow Valley is set over 2.5 square miles of countryside, between Forge Mill Needle Museum, the protected ancient monument of medieval Bordesley Abbey and the Abbey Stadium to the north and Washford Mill to the south. The River Arrow meanders through it and together with the 29-acre Arrow Valley Lake there are excellent wildlife habitats as well as great walks and activities.
At the heart of the park is the lakeside Arrow Valley Visitor Centre, which houses a café with panoramic views across the water. With an Olympic standard BMX track, free disc golf, art trails and fishing – there is something for everyone.

5. Evesham Country Park
Evesham Country Park is home to an array of shops, a beautiful garden centre and 3 eateries, including a great farm shop and with free parking – its great place to meet friends and family.
But…It is more than just a shopping centre – with Evesham Light Railway on the site, you can take the 15’’ gage train through the stunning Evesham Country side to a beautiful picnic site. There is 125acres of countryside to enjoy for you and you’re four legged friends with a brand new Castle Adventure Playground for the kids – which was designed to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Evesham.

6. Gheluvelt Park - Worcester
Based a short walk from the City Centre and accessible by Public Transport, this accessible park provides plenty of shady picnic places on a sunny day. With a large park suitable for children of all ages, seasonal splash pad, ping pong tables and tennis courts as well as a less formal area where dogs can roam off their leads – there is something for everyone.
Barbourne brook runs through the park to a large pond with a bandstand on an island in the centre. The brook continues through the park into an informal area once home to a water treatment plant. It is now a conservation area with meadow areas and a pond dipping platform, adjacent to the River Severn which houses a café called, the Pump House offering delicious food and information on sustainable living.

7. Lido Park – Droitwich
The Lido park is a beautifully manicured park within walking distance of Droitwich High Street. With good facilities including the Lido outdoor swimming pool (seasonal), wet play, splash pad fountains and two play areas – as well as tennis courts, football goals and a basket ball nets.
The Lido pool as a great café for those wanting to buy snacks and drinks.

8. Knapp and Papermill – Alfrick
This beautifully tranquil spot is managed by the Wildlife Trust, with streams, woodlands and meadows there are lots of places for a romantic picnic. There is a circular trail around the 34 acres and the Geopark runs through the reserve. Dogs welcome on leads.

9. The Old Hills – Malvern
For those of you not ready to take on the Malvern Hills, the Old Hills in Callow are only 65m high and offer a great easy walking loop with amazing views over the City of Worcester.
Like all the other commons near Malvern, Old Hills was once part of the large hunting forest known as Malvern Chase. There are good walks to be had on Old Hills and you could easily spend an hour or two exploring all the options, but there are also plenty of footpaths and bridleways linking the common to the wider countryside with lots of areas to lay out your picnic blanket.
With no toilets of café on site, you could pop to the near by Stanbrook Abbey and treat yourself to afternoon tea!

10. River Severn and Meadows – Stourport
The River Severn and Meadows in Stourport is a beautiful spot by the river, ideal for walking, fishing and picnicking, with many attractions and activities on hand. These include boats to hire, river boat trips, a modern and exciting children's play area, crazy golf, a putting green, go-kart's, a paddling pool, skateboard park, plus many amusements – and a brilliant Fish and Chip Shop.
The meadows also stage several big events throughout the year. On the other side of the bridge, by the river, you will find Danters Riverside Amusement Centre with many fairground rides, the dragon roller coaster, dodgems and a large arcade – as well as the bustling town of Stouport with an array of shops and eateries.
