Pottery Wheel Workshops

About this event

Dates, address & more

The standard taster lessons are for up to 4 people and last for 1hr 30 mins. These can be adapted to longer sessions or a series of classes to suit you and these are private sessions for you or your group of up to 4 people and can be run all year round.

Chris specialises in throwing slipware pottery which is when we decorate our pots with liquid clay coloured with oxides. This means you can make AND decorate your pots in one session - normally you have to leave your pots to be decorated by the teacher or return to decorate them. Slipware decoration is a very fluid way of working and offers those nervous about their "artistic" ability to leave that concern behind - this is abstract decorating at its best! We will be using earthenware clay which brings an extra warmth to the decoration. In a 1.5 hour session you will be able to make and decorate 2-3 pots and these will be biscuit fired, glazed with a clear glaze and fired again for you after the workshop.

There are also separate workshops in glass fusing, enamelling and stained glass at the same studios in North Worcester and you can choose to combine any of these crafts to make a half-day or whole-day course. Gift vouchers are also available if you want to give as a present – the recipient can then choose when to arrange the class.
