Love the Arbo


Multiple locations, maps available from the Baptist
Church House, Sansome Walk, WR1 1LN

A family-friendly light trail created by residents and displayed
in windows across the Arboretum in the heart of Worcester
with the theme ‘Wild about Windows’. Opening night will
include performances from Deathly Pale Party; Vamos Theatre;
The Volcano Choir; Steve Kaos & friends. Sat 10 Feb 6–9pm.
(Sun 11 & Mon 12 Feb, 6-9pm: window displays only).

Living History Weekend


Multiple locations, Sat 17 - Sun 18 February

200 re-enactors covering 2,000 years of history in 6 venues
around the city centre; local history & heritage groups at St
Helen’s Church (Sat 17 Feb only); WW1 & WW2 displays at
the Guildhall (Sat 17 Feb only); Ragged Victorians at Tudor
House (Sat 17 & Sun 18 Feb); Tudor reenactors Greyfriars (Sat
17 & Sun 18 Feb); WW1 & WW2 military vehicles at Cathedral
Square (Sat 17 & Sun 18 Feb); encampments, military and
cavalry displays at The Commandery (Sat 17 & Sun 18 Feb).

Greyfriars House and Garden, Friar Street, WR1 2LZ

Late medieval merchant’s house. Re-opening on Tue 13 Feb
with guided tours available from the visitor reception. Entry
to house 11am-2pm; Garden and café (free), 10am–4pm.

St Swithun’s Church, Church Street, WR1 2RH

Rave In The Nave. Bring all the family for 2 hours of family- friendly rave fun in a beautiful Georgian church! DJ’s spinning
club classics / UK garage / drum n’ bass as well as arts & crafts and face painting. Children must be accompanied at all times with a ratio of one adult per two children. Sat 10 Feb, 12noon–2pm.

Light Night Wed 14 & Thu 15 Feb, 6-9pm.

The church will host New Worlds by Halina Rice, an immersive otherworldly experience combining music and light (includes strobe lights).

Magical Maps. Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service
FREE children’s drop-in activities in The Hive Children’s
Library. Suitable for ages 5-11. Sat 10 Feb, 10am-2pm.
Fantasy in the Archives exhibition. Visit level 2 of The Hive to see mythical creatures and Worcestershire’s links to CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. Open daily 8.30am–10pm during February.

Worcester Cathedral, College Yard, WR1 2LA

Future Builders. Have you ever wondered how the amazing Cathedral was built almost 1,000 years ago? Why not come along and find out? Creative drop-in workshops for all the family that are inspired by the builders of the past in the Nave. Free to attend. Donations towards the cost of materials appreciated. Thu 15 & Fri 16 Feb, 10.30am-12.30pm.

The Infirmary, University of Worcester, Campus Castle St, WR1 3AS

The Infirmary Museum is an interactive exhibition at the
University of Worcester’s City Campus combining history,
science, art and technology to explore the medical stories of
one of England’s oldest infirmaries. Mon to Sat 10am-5pm.

The Commandery, Sidbury, WR1 2HU


Valiant Vikings. From code-breaking to helmet-making and braiding – be immersed in a morning of Viking fun! Includes a story, drink, and a biscuit. Tue 13 to Thu 15 Feb, 10.30am–
12noon. Ages: pre-school to 10 years. £5 + general admission.

Commandery Quest Escape Room. Challenge yourself to complete an escape room in the spooky attic rooms of The Commandery, one of Worcester’s oldest buildings - can you solve it in one hour? There’s only one way to find out! Admission charge applies. Varied times.

Tudor House, Friar Street, WR1 2NA

A Victorian-themed week of activities including a children’s
craft bag activity - how to make a pop-up theatre, colouring
in and a word search - £3. Open Wed to Sat 10am-4pm.
Visit the Victorian Seamstress. She’ll be bringing along original Victorian textiles and demonstrating traditional sewing and mending techniques. A free drop-in activity on Sat 10 Feb, 11am - 3pm.
