27 July – 3 August, Worcester
About this business
Opening times, reviews & more
Welcome to the Three Choirs Festival – a grand celebration of music in its many forms! Join us to experience the powerful sound of massed choir with symphony orchestra in the magical setting of Worcester Cathedral.
This 8-day festival showcases rich and varied musical traditions from across the centuries and the world. From our evening offering in the cathedral to our family programme, there is something for every music lover. The Festival Village will host free performances on the community bandstand and there will also be free rehearsals in the cathedral, to dip in and out of at your leisure. If you would simply like to join us for a beer or tea and cake in our cafe and bar to soak up the atmosphere, you will be welcomed into the extended family!
Performances will take place in a variety of venues across the city of Worcester and beyond, centring on the beautiful and historic Worcester Cathedral. With so much on offer throughout the week, highlights include Elgar’s The Kingdom, music from Holst and Stanford, and premieres of two new festival commissions from Nathan James Dearden and Paul Mealor. Taking the natural world as a source of inspiration, the programme also features Bob Chilcott’s The Angry Planet, Sarah Kirkland Snyder’s Mass for the Endangered and Respighi’s The Birds.
