About this event
Dates, address & more
The historian Frank Mason, whilst researching his ancestors, found that one was a gloving manufacturer in Worcester in the nineteenth century. What began as family history turned into a wider exploration of glove-making and the lives of those who worked in it. In his book, Frank traces the history of the city’s glove industry from its medieval beginnings to its emergence by the end of the nineteenth century as a major international player. The book is also the story of Victorian Worcester: public health, election petitions, patriotism, attitudes to vaccination, music and religion.
Come and hear Frank talk on this fascinating subject. After there will be a chance to buy the book and have it signed by the author.
Book signing will begin at 12:00pm.
