The Hive

As the first fully integrated public and university library in Europe, The Hive is home to a rich variety of resources and facilities for residents, students and visitors who wish to read, study, research, learn, or maybe just meet with friends.

With around a quarter of a million books there's something for everyone whether it's a holiday read, graphic novel, a book to challenge you, a text to help your research or a local or family history resource.

A building flooded with technology, The Hive has a superb collection of e-resources to help you find the answers to your questions. Gaming stations and social learning areas, full wireless coverage and more than 250 desk-top computers provide plenty of spaces for leisure and study.

Seating ranges from comfortable sofas and easy chairs to formal study areas, so there are plenty of places to choose from, whether you want to relax or work seriously.

Meanwhile, The Hive aims to be a place where memories are made in the magical children's library. A story telling space, children's computers, and many, many books, means that children will discover a love of reading to last them a lifetime, and enjoy learning how to find information. There is even a special children's Story Island, with bat boxes, trees, and wonderful views across to the River Severn. There are plenty of places for children enjoy an activity filled school visit, do their homework, or just curl up with a book.
