Dates, address & more
Severn Arts is thrilled to announce its participation in the UK charity Music for All’s ‘Learn to Play’ Event, the largest free music-making weekend of the year. On Saturday 12 October, 10:30am – 14:30pm, join Severn Arts at The Arches in Worcester to try out an instrument for FREE!
As an organisation dedicated to promoting music and arts in the Worcestershire community, Severn Arts is proud to be part of an event that brings the joy of music to people of all ages and skill levels. ‘Learn to Play’ is a fantastic opportunity for everyone - whether you are a seasoned musician or someone picking up an instrument for the first time.
Laura Worsfold, Severn Arts’ CEO, said: “Learn to Play is a great way to motivate everyone to get a taste of how satisfying and fun it can be to make music. Music is in all our lives, in everything we see, do and hear and is vital to our well-being, creativity and enjoyment. We hope to see many children and young people picking up an instrument on 12 October and having a go. I have recently learned to play the cello and if I can do it, anyone can!”
During the event, everyone will have the chance to try a wide range of instruments, all available for free, including the cello, clarinet, cornet, trombone, ukulele, music tech, and violin. The event is particularly aimed at overcoming barriers in access to music education, which has become a growing concern in recent years, especially for young people.
Severn Arts believes in the transformative power of the arts, not only for individual growth but for building stronger communities. ‘Learn to Play’ will be a celebration of that belief, creating a welcoming space for anyone eager to explore the benefits of learning and playing music.
The event is open to all, and Severn Arts are especially excited to welcome children and young people who may not have had the opportunity to experience music lessons before. This is a wonderful chance for them to explore their musical potential in a fun, supportive environment. Whether they have an interest in music or are simply curious to try something different, they will be able to engage with a variety of instruments and interactive music activities.
Join Severn Arts for a day of creativity, community, and music-making at The Arches in Worcester as part of ‘Learn to Play 2024’.
