About this event
Dates, address & more
This wonderful class will start with a warm welcome and a festive drink to sip, while you watch a demonstration given by Sophie. She will show you how to get started making your ceramic house using the slab-building technique. You will be taught how to assemble and join slabs of clay together and also shown the various techniques you will need to decorate and make your house unique! Stamps and texturing tools can be rolled into the clay to decorate the surface, embellishments added and elements such as windows and doors cut out. All materials will be provided, however feel free to bring along any other craft items should you wish to personalise your house further. Sophie will be on hand throughout the session offering guidance & expertise to help you along the way. The white stoneware clay you will be using, is very easy to work with and provides the perfect background on which to add colour once your piece is constructed.
After the session, your finished tea light will be left for a week to thoroughly dry out. It will then be bisque fired and after dipped in a transparent glaze, and fired again. The glaze will give the ware a glossy finish, making the ceramic heat resistant. After shrinkage, the finished piece will measure approx. 7cm x 6cm x 10cm (LxWxH).
Collections can be made from the studio on 21st/22nd Dec or P&P can be arranged for a small additional cost.
